The leadership of the Ijaw Interest Advocates (IIA) wish to notify the general public that we have resolved to join the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) in a protest march against the Delta State Government for depriving the Ijaw people in terms of education. This protest by the Gbaramatu Students on the educational deprivation of our people is key and very timely because education is a major tool for societal development and advancement. But over the years our schools have remained in pitiable conditions with inadequate teachers and learning materials.
We foresaw the indifferent attitude of the incumbent administration in relation to the neglect of our towns and villages and we have been engaging the government on a daily basis to ensure that our towns and villages are given the attention they deserve.
We are happy that students from the Gbaramatu axis have taken the bull by its horn in planning this protest. In the spirit of solidarity, we want to assure the Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) that we are fully in support of this planned protest. We are fully behind them and we have already mobilized over 300 Ijaw students to march down to Government House in Asaba tomorrow even if it means trekking.
The all-round development of our Ijaw towns and villages is paramount because we know the key role played by the Ijaw people to ensure the victory of this administration.
We therefore call upon all contacted students who received our message and indicated interest to converge at NNPC Junior Staff Club as early as 6:00 AM tomorrow morning so that we can join the Gbaramatu Students in this historical march.
Signed for the Ijaw Interest Advocates (IIA)
